Parliamentary elections were held in Iraq on 27 March 2000.[1] The election was contested by 522 candidates,[2] although 30 MPs were appointed to represent Iraqi Kurdistan.[3]

"All the candidates were either members of the Ba'ath Party or nominal independents loyal to it."[2] The Ba'ath Party won 165 of the 250 seats.
