History

The International School of Management (ISM) established itself in Paris and New York as a pioneer in international executive education in the 1990s under the leadership of Professor Jack Forget, who led similar executive programs in Paris and San Francisco in the 1980s and early 1990s. The focus from the beginning was to offer global business education programs affording the opportunity to gain understanding of specific regions, and allowing for flexibility suitable to working executives. The first ISM International Executive MBA (IEMBA) program officially began in 1998, and the Institute quickly expanded its programs, international presence, and student body so that by the start of the new millennium, ISM offered both master’s and doctoral programs with the possibility of studying in several different countries. Over the years, ISM has offered programs in France, Spain, the United States, Japan, China, India, Brazil and Africa.

Since its foundation, ISM’s student body has included over 500 students from nearly 100 different countries. ISM has established programs with accredited universities and private institutes of higher learning including Saint John’s University and Baruch College in New York City, Fudan University in Shanghai, Amity University near New Delhi, HSM Educação in São Paulo, and The University of Cape Town in South Africa . Small class size, and the dedication of the ISM staff and faculty make the student experience at ISM intimate, friendly, and highly interactive wherever seminars take place. In the future, ISM will continue to adapt to the changing needs of its students whether they be corporate executives, entrepreneurs, administrators in the non-profit sector, or academics. ISM’s international presence will continue to evolve with opportunities to study in exciting new emerging markets and decision-making centers around the globe.

Admissions Process

Applications for all ISM programs are accepted on a rolling basis. Assessment is made on the basis of the application, including not only academic background and professional experience, but also the rationale for pursuing an ISM degree and how it fits with the applicant’s career plan. After candidates submit an Academic Inquiry Form, the ISM Admissions Committee will review your qualifications. Should you meet ISM program requirements, you will be invited to participate in an admissions consultation with the Director of Recruitment. Consultations take place either in person at our Paris administrative offices, via Skype, or over the phone. If the applicant meetings the candidate profile for the program that they are applying for, the Admissions Committee will invite the candidate to submit an application and to have an interview.
