International Mother Language Institute at Bangladesh
International Mother Language Institute (IMLI) is located in 1/ ka segunbagicha, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Bangladeshi prime minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone of the International Mother Language Institute on March 15, 2001.
Construction started on April 6, 2003, stopped with the next change of government and resumed on February 11, 2008. Three stories of the proposed twelve were built. It was officially completed on February 21, 2010.
Background
The language movement of 1952 for Bangla (Bengali) language and International Mother Language Day are the main inspiration behind the institute.
