Founded in 2000 by Jim Grace,[4] InsureMyTrip.com is owned by parent company IMT Services Corporation.[3] The company’s business model is based on best travel insurance coverage comparative to cost.[1] Each insurance company listed on the website is rated by A. M. Best, an independent organization that rates insurance companies according to their financial strength and claims-paying ability.[5]
In 2011, InsureMyTrip.com launched the first Customer Ratings and Reviews forum in the travel insurance industry,[6] with 14,000 customers posting reviews as of March 2014.[2]
