Institute for System Level Integration

The iSLI was a research institute for knowledge transfer in electronic computing enabling technologies. The Institute is not linked primarily to a single application market or sector. The institute was founded in 1998 and was located in Livingston, Scotland, UK until 2009, when it moved to Heriot-Watt University Technology Park.[1] It ceased commercial operations in 2012.[2]

The Institute was a collaborative venture involving the computer science and electronic and electrical engineering departments of the universities of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Strathclyde, and Heriot-Watt University. It operated Doctoral and Masters degree courses administered by the four partner universities.

Its aim was to support the development of electronics systems design worldwide and to encourage the exploration of new technologies through research. The primary source of funding was from Scottish Enterprise, Scotland’s economic development agency.
