Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli (also known as IIM T or IIM Trichy) is a public graduate business school located at Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India. Founded in 2011, it is one of the seven new Indian Institutes of Management the Indian government has set up during the Eleventh Five-Year Plan.[2] and it is mentored by IIM Bangalore.[3] Classes for the first batch began on June 15, 2011.[4]

The former SEBI chairman M. Damodaran heads the board of governors while former IIM Calcutta professor Prafulla Agnihotri has been appointed director of IIM-Trichy.[5]

Campus

The institute is temporarily situated at National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli campus, until the permanent building is in place. NIT-T is providing buildings for classes, hostel and faculty accommodation.

The Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli, has acquired 172.27 acres of land owned by the Bharathidasan University to construct its own buildings at Chinna Suriyur, where the construction work already started.[6] The Rs 450 crore permanent campus would comprise world-class hostels for about 1,500 students, quarters for about 300 faculty, a floating library, recreational facilities and a full-fledged Management Development Centre for both the students and the faculty. [7]

The Indian Institute of Management-Trichy has set up a satellite centre in Ekkattuthangal in Chennai, and launched a three-year postgraduate executive programme aimed at working professionals.[8]


Academic programs

IIM Trichy offers following courses across its two campuses viz. Trichy and Chennai:

Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP): Two-year full-time residential programme. Its main objective is to develop young men and women into competent professional managers, capable of working in any sector of organized activity, proceeding leadership and achieving excellence in performance while contributing to the welfare of the larger society.

Fellow Programme in Management (FPM): For doctoral candidates

Post Graduate Programme in Business Management (PGPBM): Three year part-time programme for working executives at Chennai campus.[9]

Post Graduate Programme in Human Resources Management (PGPHRM): Three year part-time programme for those who want to create a niche for themselves in a career in human resources.[10]
