Independent Book Publishers Association

The Independent Book Publishers Association, formerly Publishers Association of Southern California (PASCAL) and Publishers Marketing Association (PMA), is a not-for-profit membership organization serving and leading the indie publishing community through advocacy, education, and tools for success. With nearly 3,000 members, IBPA is the largest publishing trade association in the U.S.

IBPA programs and publications include the Benjamin Franklin Awards, Publishing University, and the monthly Independent Magazine.

Founding

IBPA was founded in 1983 by Jan Nathan as the Publishers Association of Southern California (PASCAL).

IBPA's Benjamin Franklin Awards

Created to recognize excellence in book editorial and design, the Benjamin Franklin Awards are regarded as one of the highest national honors for indie publishers and self-published authors.[1][2]

IBPA's Publishing University

IBPA's Publishing University is a two-day networking and educational event. Hosted annually, the program includes learning labs, General Sessions, a book award ceremony, and networking events.[3][4]
