Conductor

William Carslake is a composer and conductor based in East Hertfordshire. He composes ballet scores, orchestral works and choral pieces and is published by Shorter House. His music captures the northernness and wildness of the UK and Ireland. The suite from his ballet score, The Stoning of Thomas of Winesbury, is published this year. Commissions for 2013/14 include a piece inspired by the Greenland glaciers for baroque orchestra, a wind quintet based on a Gwendolyn MacEwen poem, a string quartet, and a piece for choirs, orchestra and organ first performed in St Paul’s Cathedral in October 2013. In 2012 he spent the fall at The Banff Centre, Canada, on a composing residency. His conducting work has included assisting at the Royal Ballet, Covent Garden, and he is principal guest conductor of the Royal Orchestral Society.[1]
