Imlek a.d. (full legal name: Akcionarsko društvo Industrija mleka i mlečnih proizvoda Imlek Padinska Skela) is a Serbian food company based in Belgrade. It is specialized in processing milk and produces dairy products. The company was founded in 1953 and owns nine dairies in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the Republic of Macedonia.[2] In 2004 the Salford Investment Fund became the largest shareholder of Imlek.[3] Imlek operates as a subsidiary of Danube Foods Group B.V.
History
In 1953, at the farm „Lepušnica“ in Glogonjski Rit (Glogonj Swampy area), has been built the first reference dairy plant in PKB. That was practical the establishment of diary industry Imlek. Around 800 cows gave daily between three and five thousands liters of milk which has been sent to Belgrade market. In 1957, UNICEF grants line for pasteurizing and bottling 30.000 liters of milk per day. In 1963, the production exceeded already 21 millions liters a year.
