Imitation of Christ (designs)

Imitation of Christ is a fashion label started by 2 former American art students, Matt Damhave and Tara Subkoff.

They designed 4 collections together. Their shows were theatrical, political (one season, they demanded money from guests and donated it to charities), while simultaneously intriguing the fashion editors with beautiful clothes. For a time, Chloƫ Sevigny was the line's creative director. Damhave and Subkoff had an acrimonious split in 2001.

In 2007, this 7-year-old label is sold to Josh Sparks, former CEO of Sass & Bide.
