Ike John Thankgod commonly known as Ike Thankgod (born 4 April 1985) is a Nigerian footballer who plays for Fanja SC in Oman Professional League.[1]
Club career
Sunshine Stars
Ike began his professional footballing career in 2003 with Nigeria Premier League club, Sunshine Stars F.C. and played for one and a half season with Akure-based club.
Heartland
In 2005, he moved back to his hometown, Owerri where he signed a long-term contract with another Nigerian Premier club, Heartland F.C. and played there for the next 5 seasons.
Warri Wolves
After a 5-year long spell with the Owerri-based club, he moved to the city of Warri where he signed a long-term contract with another Nigerian Premier League club, Warri Wolves F.C.
Fanja
Fanja SC
He first moved out of Nigeria in 2015 to the Middle East and more accurately to Oman where on 26 January 2015, he signed a six-month contract with 2013–14 Oman Professional League runners-up and 2013–14 Sultan Qaboos Cup winners, Fanja SC.[2] He made his first appearance for the Omani club on 29 January 2015 in the finals of the 2014–15 Oman Professional League Cup against traditional rivals Dhofar S.C.S.C. The match ended 1-1 at normal time and was won by Fanja as Ike helped his team by scoring from the spot in a 8-7 win on penalties over the Salalah-based club. He made his Oman Professional League debut on 4 February 2015 in a 3-2 win over Al-Musannah SC.[3]

International career
Ike was selected for the national team for the first time in 2010. He made his first appearance for Nigeria on 3 March 2010 in a friendly match against DR Congo.[4] In addition to this official match, he has also made 2 appearances in the 2010 WAFU Nations Cup qualification, where he also served as the captain of the team and 5 in the 2010 WAFU Nations Cup.
