Biography

Abraham was born in the fourteenth century in the city of Amid, son of Quriaqos, son of Garib. Like his brother Joseph, he became a monk at Monastery of Mor Hananyo where he was later ordained priest before 1355. In 1375, Abraham succeeded his brother as metropolitan of Amid, upon which he assumed the name Cyril.

During this time Abraham compiled a liturgy containing anaphoras of the Church Fathers, including an anaphora written by his brother, Joseph. As well as this, Abraham wrote a husoyo before he was consecrated as Patriarch of Mardin in 1381.
