Ieeja or Aiza is a town (a Mandal) in the Mahbubnagar district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It was recently named a Nagarapanchyat.[1]

Region

Ieeja is located about 210 km (130 mi) from Hyderabad, the state capital. It is about 50 km (30 miles) from Bangalore NH 7. It connects Kurnool and Raichur, and is between the Krishna River (31 km), and the Tungabadra (19 km). The population is 35,869. Recently, Ieeja was made a municipality. It is proposed to become a constituency.

History

Before Andhra Pradesh(1956 Nov 1st), Ieeja was a region of the Raichur district under Karnataka which was ruled by Sri Krishnadevaraya.Ieeja has a well, in which the water tastes of 7 types. It was constructed by the king of Gadwal(Nala Somanadri) for the sake of village and named it his mother's name "BAKKAMAMBA".
