Plot

It's 2020. Scientists are surprised about the sudden progression of global warming during last years. Southern Europe turned into a desert since it stopped raining and similar events now happen in Northern Europe. Only the United Kingdom and some parts in the United States are unaffected. Furthermore, there is almost no more fossil fuel at the existing oil rigs so companies now want to move their activities to Greenland. According them, oil can be found in the seabed under Greenland's glaciers.

Professor Thom Archer works at "Polar Alliance", a government service. Their purpose is to find connections between industrial activities at the arctic and the melting of its ice. Thom tries to convince the authorities to revoke the exploitation license of Halo. Halo is currently the only company which is active on the glaciers in Greenland. According Thom the glaciers are melting very fast. If they disappear the sea water will raise about 23 feet, the North Atlantic Current will halt causing a new ice age will start in the Northern Hemisphere. Halo admits there is indeed a heating in that area but also claims Thom has no evidence there is a direct connection between the heating and Halo's activities. That's why the government extends the license.

Some time later, Thom gets a call from his colleague Peterson: he has found irrefutable evidence Halo's drills are responsible for the melting of the glaciers. Thom travels to Greenland only to find out Peterson was killed, presumable by a polar bear.

Despite Thom finds Peterson's evidence, a new drill by Halo opens a geothermic source in the seabed. This source melts down all the polar ice in only a few hours. Thoms' predication is now a fact: the northern hemisphere is rapidly covered by an enormous amount of snow and temperature decreases to -22° Fahrenheit. After the British Government advised their population to move to the south somehow, they dismantle the nation causing the land is now terrorized by gangs as there are no official laws anymore. Meanwhile, Thom travels with an ice-resistant plane to the United Kingdom to rescue his family in a post-apocalyptic London.
