Ibeno is located in the south east of Nigeria and is a Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. Ibeno town lies on the eastern side of the Kwa Ibo River about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) from the river mouth, and is one of the largest fishing settlements on the Nigerian coast.[1]

The people speak Ibeno dialect of the Obolo (Andoni) language. Also, The Ibeno people share close ties with their neighbours to the east in Akwa Ibom due to geography and history but they remain Obolo in cultural practice and beliefs.
