Ian Cumberland

Ian Cumberland is a Northern Irish artist. He was born in Banbridge, Co. Down, on 16 March 1983. His work focuses on portraits with his paintings typically using oils as the primary media.[1] He studied fine art at the University of Ulster, where he was awarded the John and Rachael Turner Award for the most outstanding student in their field when he graduated in 2006. Since then he has won several prizes, the most significant of which was the Davy Portrait Award in 2010.

Most recently he won third place overall in the 2011 BP Portrait Award[2] from a field of 2400 entries.
