Ian Axton

Ian Axton (born 1970)[1] is a British television newsreader, best known for his roles with ITV News West Country.

He currently presents ITV News West Country for ITV West Country, he joined the programme in May 2010 following the departure of Steve Scott.[2]

From 2007 - 2009, Axton was the main presenter of ITV News Meridian alongside co-presenter Sangeeta Bhabra in the south-east region of ITV Meridian.

In 2007, Axton has also presented ITN programmes ITV News London and the ITV News at 5:30, both broadcast on ITV. He has also presented numerous corporate videos. Non-news TV credits include The Boat Show for ITV4 and Climate Change, Make A Difference for ITV. Before his career in television, Ian worked in commercial radio and ran a company which operated a number of stations along the south coast.

Axton has also owned two commercial radio stations, Andover Sound in North West Hampshire and Newbury Sound in West Berkshire. They were sold on 19 August 2011 to Celador Radio Broadcasting.

In 2009 he attempted to be selected as the Conservative candidate for Salisbury but was unsuccessful losing the nomination to John Glen.[3]
