Iain Armstrong, Lord Armstrong

Iain Armstrong, Lord Armstrong is a Senator of the College of Justice, a judge of the Supreme Courts of Scotland.

Legal career

Iain G Armstrong QC is a graduate of the University of Glasgow. He was admitted to the Faculty of Advocates in 1986. His pupillage was with Duncan Menzies and Donald Findlay. He was appointed a Queen's Counsel in 2000. From 1998 to 2000, he was standing junior counsel for the Department of Social Security. Thereafter, he served as a full-time Advocate Depute in the Crown Office until 2003, when he returned to private practice. He was a member of the Standing Committee on Legal Education in Scotland from 1995 to 1999 and a governor of Fettes College from 1991 to 2011. He is a member of the Advisory Panel to the School of Law of the University of Glasgow. He served as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Advocates from 2008 to 2013. On 15 February 2013, he was appointed a Senator of the College of Justice.[1]
