Hyper Island is a private tertiary institution and educational company specializing in real-world industry training using digital technology.[1] It was founded 1996 in Sweden and has presence through offices or campuses in Sweden (Headquarters), UK, US and Singapore.
Hyper Island offers full time programs with digital media focus and short term classes aimed at industry executives.[2]
Hyper Island also offers short term courses known as Master Classes (HIMC) geared towards the development of working professionals. This is an intensive course for industry professionals to boost knowledge levels and understanding of digital culture and media, transformative technology and how these affect ideation, execution, workflows, client collaboration and business/revenue models.
The Master Classes are offered both as open enrollment (Open Master Classes, held monthly in different cities globally) and as customized Master Classes, where the program is adapted to the client challenges and needs.
In 2011, Hyper Island opened a campus in Manchester,[3] UK after a pilot programme which was the focus of a Nesta[4] report, it hosted its first Master's Degree level Program in 2012 accredited by Teesside University.[5]
