Hydnocarpus octandra is a species of plant in the Achariaceae family, but originally placed in the Flacourtiaceae family by Arthur Cronquist. It is endemic to Sri Lanka.
Leaves
oval, acute unequal base, shortly caudate, obtuse apex, glandular.
Trunk
Bark- brown; young shoots pubescent.
Flowers
greenish white. Inflorescence- axillary clusters.
Fruits
large, globose; pericarp thick, hard, tomentose berry.
Ecology
rain forest subcanopy of wet zone forests of Sri Lanka.
