Huzurnagar is a town and Taluka in the Nalgonda district of the state of Telangana, India. Recently, the state became Notified Area Council.
Name
The town's original name was Ponucherla, in honor of the goddess Pochamma. The name was changed to Huzurnagar as it was once ruled by Huzur.Prior to the Independence of India this town had an important role in the administration of The Nizam (Monarchy) of Hyderabad.

Demographics
There are multiple temples in the town, including Ramalayam, Mutyalamma, Durga Devi, Shirdi Sai Baba, Sri Abhayanjaneya swami, Saraswati temple, Lord Venkateswara Temple, Shivalayam, and Vinayaka Temple. The town holds an annual Mutyalamma Festival. A festival in honor of the Shivaratri, the idol of Lord Rama, is also held annually, in the nearby temple in the town of Gutta (near the Muktyala branch canal). There are Marriage/Function halls in the town associated to some temples as well as running by individuals.
The town's new function all, Sri venkatesware VENKATESWARA A/C Function Hall, was constructed. It is located on Miryalaguda Road with fully Centralized Air Condition and with beautiful Interior and with other facilities.
Sai Baba Kalyana Mantapam is a very famous and busiest function hall associated to the Shirdi Sai Baba temple and is located just opposite to the temple.There is another Marriage hall associated to Sri Abhayanjaneya Swami vari devalayam. In the city outskirts of the town there are other function halls named Lakshmi Narasimha Garden Function hall and Swarna Vedica. There is newly constructed town hall near the Sai Baba temple.
Huzurnagar is also the site of Sitaramachandra Swami temple, which is at least 900 years old, and one of the oldest temples in the region. Many devotees worship Shivalayam during festivals. Kanakadurga Seva Samajam celebrates Durga Navaratri Utsavalu at Kanakadurgamma Temple. Poojas are performed on all Navaratri days and Grama Yatra of Kanaka Durga Ammavaru on the Final Day, Dasara Festival Day. The Saibaba temple is located in the town center and is an ancient temple dedicated to Rama.
Mattapalli, a pilgrimage center near Huzurnagar, is popular among the neighbouring villages and towns. Its legend dates back to the 13th century BCE. Lord Narasimha Swamy is worshiped here and is considered the most powerful god by the locals. This temple is located on the banks of the South Indian River Krishna. Approximately 10 km from another village, Amaravaram, is Lingamanthula swamy alayam, where gattu jatara is celebrated every two years. It is the largest village in Mandal.
BURUGADDA is the one of the big village , is sri varaha venugopala swami alyam, which is at least 1100 years old, its build by kakatiyas. and two sivslayam are there. poojas are performed on all days. sri arunkumar deshmukh is in village sarpanch. it is developed village in mandal. one ups school and primary school are there and one vetaranary hosipatal located in village.
Saiprabath Nagar, named after SaiBaba Temple, is located in the center of Huzurnagar town, which was formerly the outskirts of the town, and which is surrounded by a hospital and educational institutions. Recently, three more temples were constructed: Lord Vinayaka, Lord Venkateshwara and Chadhuvula thalli Saraswathi.
In Huzurnagar there are five masjids. One of the main masjids is located at Potti Sriramulu Centre, and the others are located at Sithramnagar, Lakhavram road, and Dhaddhanala Cheruvu.
Keethavari Gudem is the one of the best village in Huzurnagar.
Sarvaram is considered to be one of the safest villages in Nalgonda district. It has four way roads from the all the areas. Samula Kalavathi Venkat Reddy is in village at Sarpanch. There has been a lot of civil engineering and construction work in the village including a bridge in progress between Sarvaram and Lingagiri.
Srinivasapuram is also a major village in Huzurnagar Mandal. They celebrates Gangamma Jatara every year. It is considered the most powerful god by the villagers, and those of nearby villages.
Education
Huzurnagar town has two Zilla Parishad High Schools, including a public high school and junior college. There are three private colleges, Priyadarshini College, Chaitanya College, and New Generation Junior College; as well as two public ones, Priyadarshini Degree College and Chaitanya Bharthi Degree College. An engineering college was established in 2004, called MITS (Madira Institute of Technology). There are now multiple technology schools, including Krishnaveni Talent School, and Teja Talent School.
The oldest schools are Chaitanya High School, Vignan High School, Chaitanya Concept School, Chaitanya Grammar School, and the Huzurnagar Public School among others.
One of the villagers, Dr. Srinivasa Raju, was awarded his Ph.D Doctorate from Osmania University in the subject of Applied Mathematics.
Health
There is one Government Health Center, which is one of the largest health centers in the district.
Economy
The town has many rice mills, and is the second largest producer of par-boiled rice in Andhra Pradesh, after Miryalaguda. Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Parboiled Modern Rice Mill,Sri Venkataramana Parboiled Modern Rice Mill,Sri Sai Srinivasa, Sri Balaji, etc. are some of the famous parboiled rice mills in Huzurnagar. Huzurnagar has five nationalised banks,HDFC Bank, Andhra Bank and State Bank of Hyderabad, a Co-operative Central Bank, and a Grameena Bank. The town has seven petrol stations, the oldest of which is Pendyala Kotilingam Brothers which is established in 1976. Huzurnagar has many cement factories such as Priya Cements, Sagar Cements, Nagarjuna Cements, Anjani Cements, Maha Cements and Kamakshi Cements, among others. The Real estate market in Huzurnagar has grown very quickly in recent times.
Entertainment
There were totally THREE movie theaters in the town named: Srinivasa, Sai Baba and Vijayalakshmi. Out of these three theaters at preset only two theaters (Srinivasa and Sai Baba) are functional.
Sri Lakshmi Theater is located at the entrance of the town when coming from Miryalaguda.fdg Srinivasa, Vijayalakshmi and Sai Baba theaters are present in the cetner of the town with very less distance from one theater to the other. Sai Baba theater is the first theater in Huzur Nagar with 70 mm screen and Air Conditioned. Vara Lakshmi Theater is located in the place called Gandhi Park near to Kanaka Durgamma temple and Ramalayam.
Transport
Huzurnagar has bus services but no rail link. The nearest railway station is 35 km away, at Miryalguda. Vijayawada, another major city, is 115 km away from Huzurngar. The nearest cities include Miryalaguda, Kodad, Jaggaiahpet, and Khammam.
Politics
Huzurnagar was an Assembly Constituency before 1977, when it lost its status of Assembly Constituency. Over 20 years later, in 2009, it has again become a separate Assembly Constituency with the delimitation. The current MLA is captain N. Uttam Kumar Reddy. This is a source of great pride for the Huzurnagar Assembly Constituency.
