The Hutt Valley Lakers were a professional basketball team that played in the New Zealand National Basketball League during the 1990s. The team was based in the Hutt Valley of the Wellington Region and won NBL titles in 1991 and 1993.[1]
The team later competed in the Conference Basketball League (CBL) during the 2000s,[2] winning the 2010 tournament with a 111–95 win over Porirua in the Grand Final. Star forward Leon Henry earned Most Valuable Player honours playing alongside current Wellington Saints teammates Brendon Polyblank and Damien Ekenasio.[3]
