Geography

Hussainabad is located at 24°32′N 84°01′E / 24.53°N 84.02°E.[2] It has an average elevation of 145 m (476 ft).

Hussainabad (Japla) is a small town in Jharkhand. it is on the border of Jharkhand & Bihar. The Railway station is known by the name of Japla. On moving towards the Bihar from Jharkhand, Kajratnawadih followed by Nabinagar is the next railway station from Japla. It is important to note that Railway is the main source for intercity commutation as there is hardly any road transport available.

In approximately 4 km away from Japla is situated Sone Valley Cements Limited (formerly known as Sone Valley Port Land Cement Company Limited), situated on the bank of famous Sone river and one of the famous and oldest cement factory of India, which has ceased its operation from the year 1993. It is said that the Mohraon Bungalow of the Sone valley Cements was among some of the finest bungalows in the state of Bihar, equipped with all modern amenities. After the close of Sone Valley Portland Limited, the bungalow is in dilapidated state now. It is also believed that the initial economic growth in Japla could be attributed to Sone Valley Cements Limited, whose employees used to visit the town to purchase goods for day-to-day needs, thus promoted trade and commerce in the town.

Infrastructure

Japla has abysmally low quality infrastructures in absence of any effort from the government to strengthen them.

Japla has no hospitals, except for the state run health clinics, which hardly serves any purpose as it has no trained doctors, paramedics and diagnostic labs . The patients either travel to Daltongang, the district town of Palamu or go to cities like Varanasi or Ranchi for treatments.

The power supply in japla is quite improved. One can observed and of course enjoy around 15-20 Hrs electricity. .

The preferable public conveyance within in the town is Rickshaw (man pulled four wheeler. Jeep and electronic auto rickshaw are mostly used for commuting outside the town.

Outskirts of the town is deeply infested with naxalites owing to dense jungle which surrounds the town.

Japla also has poor educational infrastructures. There is no quality schools in the town or nearby area in approximation of about 60 km radius, except for some government run Hindi medium schools, which are managed by incompetent teaching staff. Further, the town has no institution to impart higher education and thus the students are left with no option, but to migrate to nearby cities. Probably this is also the one of the main reasons for low literacy rate in the higher education among the people in this area.

The major source of income of the people inhabiting the town is the trade of goods required for day to day use by people inhabiting the area. The people of the villages surrounding the town engages in agriculture. With the closure of Sone Valley Cements Limited, there is hardly any private jobs which can be offered to the inhabitants of Japla. In the service sector, the government is the sole employer with majority of the jobs coming from banks and administration department of the government. Japla has well set branch of national banks like SBI, panjab national bank that helps the local traders a lot. there is also sub-post office with speed post facility.
