The Hussain Ebrahim Jamal Research Institute of Chemistry, widely known as HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, is an advanced and academic Chemistry and Mathematics research institute in Karachi, Sindh Province of Pakistan.[1] The HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry is managed and operated by the Department of Chemistry of the Karachi University, under the programmatic direction of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC).[1] The HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry gravitate and centers its research on experimental and theoretical research in advanced computational, solid-state, nuclear, medical, and theoretical chemistry as well as initiating research in advanced mathematical sciences' problems that arise in the field of Chemistry.[1]

Overview

Established in 1967, by the Professor Salimuzzaman Siddiqui who had long dream to established a chemistry institute for the welfare of medical and advance sciences in Pakistan.[1] As Abdus Salam was succeeded to established the Physics research institute Pakistan Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology, Siddiqui, as Chairman of Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, took initiatives to established this institute by becoming its first director.[1] The research institute was affiliated with "Postgraduate Institute of Chemistry" of the Department of Chemistry at Karachi University.[1] Scientists and engineers at the Nuclear Chemistry Division of Pinstech Institute, also provided vital support and joined this institute under the directorship of Siddiqui.[1]
