Hurst Junior High School is a public secondary school in Hurst, Texas operated by the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District.
History
The Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District constructed North Hurst Elementary at the current site of Hurst Junior High in 1953. The building was converted into a junior high school and renamed Hurst Junior High in 1959. The original building was demolished and replaced with the current two-story building in 2000.[3]
Programs
Hurst Junior High has a band, a choir, and an athletics program.[3]
Student body
In the 2008-2009 school year, 47% of students attending Hurst Junior High School were white, 29% were Hispanic, 16% were African-American, 7% were Asian or Pacific Islander, and 1% were Native American. 21% of all students were economically disadvantaged.
Accolades
On September 9, 2010, Hurst Junior High School, along with Central Junior High School, received the National Blue Ribbon Award for schools in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District.[4]
