Hugh Elliott (born November 27, 1964) is a Los Angeles-based American film/TV editor and musician. Elliott was a founding member of the quintet, Jazz Punks. He was the drummer on the Jazz Punks album, SMASHUPS, which reached #1 on the CMJ Jazz Top 40 in June 2012.
Elliott also worked on a number of other albums, including the Angela Bofill album, I Wanna Love Somebody and Heather Nova's album, South.
Early life and education
Elliott was born in Austin, Texas and grew up in Dallas, Texas in the United States. Elliott went onto study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.
Career
After Berklee College of Music, Elliott moved to New York City, where he performed and recorded with local and regional artists.
Following his work with Bofill, Elliott played on Sandra Bernhard's album, I'm Still Here... Damn It![1]
In 1999, Elliott played on the Robert Lamm solo album, In My Head.[2] Two years later, he played on the Heather Nova album, South, drumming on the single, Like Lovers Do, which was featured in the film, Serendipity.
Elliott was a founding member of the band, Jazz Punks. In 2009, the group released an EP, which was self-titled. In 2012, Jazz Punks released an album titled, SMASHUPS.[3]
SMASHUPS received positive reviews, including the Boston Globe, JazzTimes and All About Jazz.[4] It was also #15 on CMJ's Top 100 Albums of 2012 and remained on KCRW’s Jazz Top 10 for 8 weeks.[5]
