Howzzattt is a digital 2D animation series, focusing on the adventures of a bunch of cricket-crazy kids, who like to call them as 'Gulab Nagar Junglees'. The series was originally developed by Toonz Animation, as a Comic Series titled 'Cricket Miracles'. The Animation series is based on the original story ideas from comic issues. The first run on Discovery Kids comprised 13 episodes and has already ended, while re-runs are still on air. It was developed by Renju Ramesh and Rathan Sam George, from Toonz Animation India, written by (Seasons 1; Period 2013) Srivinay Salian, script supervised by Renju Ramesh and is broadcast on Discovery Kids.[1] The series quickly became popular, inspiring the producers to launch an Android Mobile Game, titled 'Howzzattt Game'. The series is available on DVD [2] as a four volume set.
Plot
'Gulab Nagar Junglees' are a bunch of kids, namely - Guru, Gyani, Bull, Bablu, Shekhar and Ajay. These kids, under the coaching and guidance of Sweety Aunty, hone their cricket skills and go against a bunch of big bad bullies, who would play the game but never by the rules. While , Col. Singh and Sweety Aunty are the die-hard supporters of the kids, the wealthy Thakral, is often at cross, with the kids, subjecting them to one challenge after another. The kids take on challenge after challenge to get out of every tough situations, they would find themselves in. As a result, each episode is a cricket match, against a new set of opponents. While, the opponents vary, the kids also often find themselves pitted against Thakral, a wealthy businessman from neighborhood, who intends to acquire the Gulab Nagar Society land.
Characters
- Guru: He's handsome, clever and captain of the team. He's rebellious by nature and is always up for a challenge. He believes in his team.
- Gyani: He's the youngest, shortest and the smartest member of the team. He's obsessed with cricket and knows every tiny detail of cricket history. Unfortunately, he's also their weakest player.
- Bablu: He's the lazy fat kid who unknowingly causes a mess most of the time. He has a unique skill: he never misses any ball that is thrown at him.
- Bull: He's a gentle giant, a child at heart. He has a soft-spot for babies and butterflies.
- Shekhar: He's a lean, slender kid with an unusual gift, i.e: to run as fast as a speeding train. He is always wearing a helmet for unknown reasons and has never been seen without it.
- Ajay: He's a wealthy and smart kid from the rich neighbourhood, who likes to hang out with the Gulab Nagar Society kids. He is very good at his game and one of the best players on the team. He is resentful of being pampered by his devoted butler Manikchand.
- Sweety Aunty: She's a kind, affectionate and loving woman who has only two passions in life - cooking and cricket. Besides that, she's a die-hard fan of the kids and volunteers to become their coach.
- Col. Singh: He's a resident of Gulab Nagar Society, who shares a love/hate relationship with the kids. He's shrewd, judgmental and a strict disciplinarian.
- Thakral: He's a wealthy businessman and the manager of Breach Candy Cricket Club, who just can not stand the Gulab Nagar kids. He's an egoistic maniac who would go to any length to win against the kids.
