Howard Newton (born 16 March 1982) is a Guyanese international footballer who plays for Tooting & Mitcham United, as a winger.

Early and personal life

Born in London, England,[1] Newton is the older brother of fellow footballer Jake Newton.[2]

Club career

Newton began his club career in England, playing with teams including Sutton United, Hampton & Richmond Borough, Wembley, Hitchin Town, Staines Town, Epsom & Ewell, Dagenham & Redbridge and Harrow Borough.[3][4] In August 2009, Newton had an unsuccessful trial with Football League side Gillingham.[5]

Newton spent the summer of 2010 with New Zealand side Hamilton Wanderers.[6]

After playing for Metropolitan Police, he signed for Tooting & Mitcham United in June 2014.[7]

International career

Newton made his international debut for Guyana on 22 February 2008 in a friendly game against Cuba.[8] To date, Newton has appeared in 10 international games for Guyana,[1] including one World Cup Qualifying match in June 2008.[9]
