Horsington House

Horsington House

Horsington House is a country house in Horsington, near Templecombe in Somerset. It is a stone-built 18th century house with pillared porch. The grounds include a sunken garden and a hard tennis court. [1]

It was the home of the Dodington family from c1790-1922. [2] In 1939 the house and park were sold by Catherine Campbell Noyes to Malvern Girls' College. The charity Dr. Barnardo's used it as a children's home from 1946 until July 1972. [3] Subsequently Horsington House became an hotel. [4]

It was purchased in the 1990s by Ardon Lyon, a philosophy professor from London, in a state of substantial neglect, disrepair and deferred maintenance.
