Horsfieldia irya is a species of plant in the family Myristicaceae. It is found in Burma, India, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.[2]
Leaves
2-ranked, numerous, oblong to linear-lanceolate, acute ends, veins hairy.
Trunk
Bark - smooth, purplish gray, marked with leaf scars; Wood - yellowish, moderately heavy; young parts tomentose.
Flowers
pale yellow, fragrant; male minute, numerous, clustered; female larger, fewer; Inflorescence - rusty pubescent panicles at leafless nodes.
Fruits
globose, rusty tomentose, bright pink within; seed with a scarlet aril.
Ecology
rain forest subcanopy.
Uses
flowers- temple offerings; whole plant- medicinal.
