Hopea jucunda is a species of plant in the Dipterocarpaceae family. It is endemic to the island of Sri Lanka.

Leaves

ovate, cuneate subequal base, caudate apex, midrib obscurely depressed, lateral veins about 3-5 pairs, arching; petioles caducous buff puberulent.

Trunk

Bark - flanky, purplish brown; Immature Bark - pale brown; Wood,sapwood - pale yellow; hartwood - pale brown

Flowers

Inflorescence - deep crimson panciles.

Fruits

globose, wings 2 long and 3 short.

Ecology

rain forest subcanopy of wet zone.

Uses

Wood - construction timber.

Culture

Known as රත් බෙරලිය (rath beraliya) in Sinhala.
