Homelink
For the automobile remote control accessory, see HomeLink Wireless Control System.
Homelink was the UK's first online banking system. It was set up by the Nottingham Building Society in 1983 in association with the Bank of Scotland, using the UK Post Office's Prestel Viewdata system.
An account with the Nottingham Building Society was required, at which point bills could be paid online. Access to cash was enabled by transferring money to the Bank of Scotland and then withdrawing from one of their ATMs.
Homelink were the main sponsors of the 1983 World's Strongest Man competition held in New Zealand. The winner of this contest was Geoff Capes.
