Homage to the Lagan, May 2010

Homage to the Lagan is an outdoor sculpture located at Governor’s Bridge in the Stranmillis area of Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was produced in 2000 by artist Ned Jackson Smyth. The artwork is an aluminium hull-like seat feature, the form of which echoes the shape of a ship as well as more organic shell-like forms. It also serves as a public seat adjacent to the riverside pathway beside the pontoon on the River Lagan at Governor’s Bridge. The sculpture was funded by Laganside Corporation and Sustrans.[1]
