Holy Family Hospital is a 326 bed multi-specialty hospital run by the New Delhi Holy Family Hospital Society and managed by the Delhi Catholic Archdiocese. It is registered as charitable Non-Profit Organisation under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. Founded by the Medical Mission Sisters in 1953, the vision and values of the Founder- Mother (Dr.) Anna Dengel, are an integral part of the philosophy of this hospital.

History

The Holy Family Hospital in New Delhi, India, was founded by the Medical Mission Sisters in 1953. The foundation stone was laid by Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, Vice President of India in the presence of Rajkumari Amrit Kaur, India’s Minister of Health. Subsequently the running of the hospital was handed over to the Delhi Catholic Archdiocese in 1990.

At present Vincent M. Concessao, Archbishop of Delhi is the Chairman of the Governing Body of the hospital. Arthur Pinto is the Director and Dr. S. Warsi is the Medical Superintendent.[1]

Holy Family Hospital[2] is registered under the Delhi Nursing Home Act and is an ISO 9001:2000 certified hospital.

Medical facilities

Miles Stones : more than 10,000 dialysis sessions in a year. Treatment : We are providing treatment on outdoor (OPD) and indoor (IPD) basis for kidney disorders with diabetes and hypertension, for difficult to control blood pressure, kidney diseases with protein and blood in urine, kidney diseases with high uric acid levels, and other kidney disorders like ADPKD, recurrent kidney stone disease etc, acute kidney failure and chronic kidney failure. Procedures : Vascular access : All kind of vascular access procedures are being done in the department of nephrology - Internal jugular/subclavian vein catheterization, permcath, AV fistula, AV graft, Doppler study and fistulogram for poorly functioning fistulas. CAPD catheterization. Acute peritoneal catherization. Plasma exchange - Therapeutic plasma exchange for various kidney diseases specially for rapidly progressing renal failure. Kidney Biopsy : Real time USG guided kidney biopsy is being performed with excellent outcome. Facilities : Diagnostic : All sort of diagnostics are available in Holy Family Hospital related to Kidney disorders. Therapies : Hemodialysis : There is a large hemodialysis unit with 14 stations with best and latest hemodialysis machines. Centre is following international (AAMI) and national (ISN) guidelines to maintain high standards of care. Sustained low efficiency dialysis (SLED) : usually being done in sick patients admitted in ICU. Two dialysis stations are dedicated for ICU patients. Acute peritoneal dialysis : Short-term peritoneal dialysis usually being performed in sick admitted patients. Continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) – CAPD in home based long term dialysis. This therapy is a good alternative to hemodialysis and cost effective as well. Clinical Team : Nephrology department is having full time as well as visiting nephrologists on board. A team of Senior Residents, Junior Residents and 14 dialysis technician/nurses are working under supervision of Senior Consultant Nephrologist. Dr. Anil Prasad Bhatt - Dr. Anil Prasad Bhatt is heading the department since August 2012. He is a graduate (MBBS) and postgraduate (MD) in Medicine from GSVM Medical College Kanpur. He did his Nephrology training (DM Nephrology) from prestigious AIIMS, New Delhi. He is working in the field of Nephrology since 2005. Future Plans : Hospital is looking forward to expand the dialysis unit and to establish an affordable kidney transplant programme in near future.
