Hoddesdon Town F.C. is an English football club based in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire. The club are currently members of the Premier Division of the Spartan South Midlands League and play at Lowfield. They were the first ever winners of the FA Vase.
History
The club was established in 1879, and claims to be the third oldest club in Hertfordshire.[1] They were the inaugural winners of the FA Vase in 1975.[2] They joined the expanded Spartan South Midlands League in 1997.[1][3] Hoddesden initially competed in the Premier Division North, and subsequently the Premier Division, but have since been relegated to Division One.[1] Joel Sutton plays up front, becoming the clubs all time top goalscorer, with 157 goals.
Stadium
Hoddesdon Town have played at Lowfield since 1899 since moving there to share with the local cricket club. The ground was originally part of the High Leigh Estate, but was purchased for the town in 1924. The clubhouse was erected in the 1950s but completely refurbished in 2002. The main stand incorporates 100 seats from Burnden Park, the former home of Bolton Wanderers.[4]
