Hockey Québec is the governing body of all ice hockey in Quebec, Canada. Hockey Québec is a branch of Hockey Canada.

History

Hockey Québec was organized in 1976 to take over from the various organizations governing hockey in Quebec, such as the Quebec Amateur Hockey Association which had existed since the 1910s.

Quebec Amateur Hockey Association

The Quebec Amateur Hockey Association (QAHA) was organized in Montreal on January 19, 1919, at the Montreal Amateur Athletic Association club house. The first leagues to affiliate were the Junior Amateur Hockey Association, the Montreal City Amateur Hockey League and the Interscholastic Hockey League. The first president was Major Hartland B. MacDougall a former player. The group applied for affiliation with the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association.[1]
