Overview

The show, sets in the world of talking animals who try to live like humans. The stories focuses on the adventures of a detective duo of Hip-Hip (a pink Hippopotamus) and his assistant Hurrah (a purple weasel) The names Hip-Hip and Hurrah may stem from a common English expression: hip hip hooray.

In each episode the heroes try to solve a mystery that usually concludes with an environmental message for the children, such as how rainbow is created, how children are born, how the flowers feed, where do clouds come from, or simply with habits and nature of particular animals. One episode deals with optical perspective. All animal characters on the show appears to operate by very silly logic (similar to the one from Winnie-the-Pooh) and usually puzzled by the most basic of phenomenons.

While the series is intended for very young children, it often includes humor intended for adults as well. The series consist of 26 episodes. The style of animation is simple but very artistic.

Large portion of the episodes usually have subplot that sometimes isn't related to the main mystery. Other episodes have some twists on the usual formula - for example in one particular episode Hip-Hip and Hurra solve the mystery behind series of crimes early on (as a meta-joke even the end credits start rolling). However the thief who turn out to be a Magpie clamies she isn't responsible for the crimes she committed so the animals put her on a trail, with Hip-Hip as the judge. In the end they all learn that Magpies actions (steeling shiny objects) where strictly motivated by her natural instinc so she can't be trully punished for her "crimes".
