Hindustan University is a university of engineering headquartered in Chennai, India. It was founded in 1985 by K. C. G. Verghese as Hindustan College of Engineering and was granted university status from the University Grants Commission in 2008 as the Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS), which it still uses as a subtitle.
