Himarsha Venkatsamy (born 15 February 1984) is an Indian model and actress, known for winning the Kingfisher Calendar Hunt in 2010, defeating Anjali Lavania and Nidhi Sunil in the final round.[2][3]

She made a special appearance in the 2010 Bollywood romantic comedy I Hate Luv Storys.,[4] but her first breakthrough came when she was roped to play Jhumpa in the thriller Roar: Tigers of the Sundarbans film.[5]

Early life

Himarsha Venkatsamy was born and raised in the sunny coastal city of Durban where her great grandparents 3 generations back had emigrated to from South India. Himarsha is the youngest of 3 siblings; she shares good bonding with all of them. She went to drama and art classes through school, Inspired by her father who was a Thespian back in the day. After attending Westville Girls High School she moved to Johannesburg to study at The Witwatersrand Medical School where she completed her BSC Physiotherapy. While at Medical School she continued to actively participate in theatre, dance and Modelled part time. It was in her final year of Physiotherapy that I was scouted by Tarun Tahiliani and IMG at an IPL fashion show. I was booked directly for Lakme Fashion Week and what started as a fleeting 3 month model season in India became a 5 year Love affair with all things Fashion and Bollywood.

Career

Himarsha participated in the Kingfisher Calendar Girl Hunt 2009 along with her sister Terushka. She won the contest that was televised on NDTV Good Times. She studied physiotherapist at the Witwatersrand University, before coming to India to be a full-time model. She has been a part of Lakme Fashion Week 2009.[6]
