Himanshu Sharma (born August 20, 1980) is a noted Indian screenwriter, who works in Bollywood (Hindi films). He is most known as the writer of Tanu Weds Manu (2011) and Raanjhanaa (2013), both directed by Anand L. Rai[1][2]

Early life and education

Himanshu Sharma was born to Jeewan Sharma, a U.P. Tourism officer and Kshama Sharma in Lucknow, he did his schooling from Spring Dale College, Lucknow and later moved to Kirori Mal College, Delhi for higher education, where he started taking part in theatre.

Career

He started his career with NDTV as script writer for a health show. Subsequently, he moved to Mumbai to pursue his career in serials and movies. He wrote script for many TV serials like Kkusum on Sony TV and Bhootwala serial from SAB TV. He made his film writing debut with movie Strangers with Nandana Sen and Jimmy Shergil produced by Raj Kundra.He is the member of International Film And Television Club of AAFT.

In 2013, he wrote Raanjhanaa (2013), both directed by Anand L. Rai, starring Dhanush, Abhay Deol and Sonam Kapoor.

Personal life

Currently he lives in Mumbai. His parents live in Indira Nagar, Lucknow. He has one sister and one brother.
