Highlands Latin School is a classical Christian school located in Louisville, Kentucky for students from Kindergarten to the 12th grade. Founded in 2000 by Latin textbook author Cheryl Lowe and her family, the school currently enrolls 615 students[1] in two campuses at 2800 Frankfort Ave (Crescent Hill) and 10901 Shelbyville Rd (Spring Meadows).[2] Highlands Latin School Indianapolis is a sister school located in Carmel, Indiana. The school is a for-profit[3] subsidiary of Memoria Press, a textbook publisher founded by the Lowe family, which publishes the school's curriculum and sells it to home schools and other private schools.[2][4]
Academics
The school gives special emphasis to Latin, mathematics, and music, which it calls the "three universal languages." Its education is founded on the belief that the study of ancient Greece and Rome give students a basis of comparison for English and American History.[5][6]
In the last three years, 24% of seniors have been named National Merit Semifinalists.
