High Treason Pictures is an independent production company founded by Robert Weiser, President/CEO and Patricia Weiser, VP/Director of Development/Producer.

Background

High Treason Pictures teamed up with the producers of Fahrenheit 911 and Bowling for Columbine on the critically acclaimed 2008 documentary Bigger, Stronger, Faster* – a film about sports and steroids and the American “win at all cost” culture. Out of more than 700 films submitted, Bigger Stronger Faster was one of only twelve documentary films accepted into competition at The Sundance Film Festival in 2008 and was purchased by Magnolia Films.[1] Bigger Stronger Faster enjoyed a theatrical release in the summer of 2008 and is currently available on DVD and On Demand.[2]

High Treason Pictures' second project is the full-length feature comedy written and directed by Joshua Shelov titled The Best and the Brightest starring Neil Patrick Harris, Bonnie Somerville, Christopher McDonald, Kate Mulgrew, John Hodgman, Amy Sedaris, Peter Serafinowicz and Jenna Stern. A farce centering around the "bloodsport" of trying to get your child into an elite New York City kindergarten, the film centers on New York neophytes Jeff (Neil Patrick Harris) and Samantha (Bonnie Somerville) as they attempt to navigate the cutthroat and hilarious waters of the city’s private schools. Filmed in Philadelphia during the summer of 2009 and a 2010 Philadelphia Film Festival Official Selection.[3]
