The High—School Streets Historic District encompasses a cluster of fourteen houses representing one of the best well preserved mid-19th century residential districts in Southbridge, Massachusetts. Most of the houses are on the west side of High Street; two are on School Street immediately adjacent to High Street, and one is at the east corner of High and South Streets. High Street was laid out in the 1840s on Hamilton Woolen Company land, with most its lots sold off by 1853. Most of the houses are in Greek Revival style, including two high quality brick houses. Only one house dates to the early 20th century.[2]
The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.[1]
