Herolind Shala (born 1 February 1992) is an Albanian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Czech club Sparta Prague and the Albania national team.
Career
Early career
He was born in Porsgrunn to Albanian Parents from Kosovo.[1] Shala has previously played for Tollnes and Notodden.[2]
Sparta Prague
On 11 January 2015 Shala launched a new adventure, signing a 3 year and half contract with record holder and defending champions of the Czech Republic, AC Sparta Prague. Shala, who left after 3 years, 102 matches and 25 goals Odd Grenland, was honored by Sparta taking the number 10, which shows the trust that the Czechs have to Albanian talent.[3] He made it his first debut on 23 February 2015 against Příbram by playing in the starting line up and substituted off for Václav Kadlec in the 54th minute, as Sparta won 4–1.[4]
International
Norway youth-levels
He has represented Norway at under-17 and under-21 level.[5]
Albania under-21
When he was called up for both the Norwegian and the Albanian under-21 team in May 2013, he withdrew from the Norwegian squad as he wanted to represent Albania instead.[6] On 11 July 2013 he made his debut for the Albanian U-21 team against Bosnia and Herzegovina U21 by playing full 90-minutes.[7]
Albania senior team
He received his first senior national team call-up by the Albania national football team coach Gianni De Biasi for the match valid for the UEFA Euro 2016 qualifiers against Portugal on 7 September 2014.[8]
He made it his first debut for senior team on 14 November 2014 in the "Group I" Friendly Match against the Euro 2016 hosts, France, by coming on as a substitute in the 76th minute in place of Ermir Lenjani.[9] In the other match against Italy Shala played once again as a substitute at this time in the 71st minute in place of Amir Abrashi.[10]
