Hermitage High is a public Henrico County high school located in Henrico, Virginia. The mascot of Hermitage High School is the Panther. Hermitage High School has athletic facilities with concrete High School Football stadiums and Rubber-turf Field Tracks.

History

Initially, Hermitage High School began in 1936 as the Glen Allen High School, which was located at the present-day site of the Cultural Arts Center off Mountain Road. The building that is now George H. Moody School was opened in 1951 as Hermitage High School. The current Hermitage High School was opened in 1972 and is located in the Brookland District.

Humanities Center

The Humanities Center is one of the Specialty Centers of Henrico County, focusing on the connection between literature, history, philosophy, and the arts. Students in the Humanities Center also get to practice their humanitarian skills by performing volunteer work for every year that they participate in the center. The program provides students with an opportunity to pursue a rigorous interdisciplinary academic experience in the humanities while fulfilling graduation requirements for an advanced diploma with a Specialty Center seal. Because the center is located at Hermitage High School, students can also take advantage of all the sports, clubs, and resources of a large high school.

Hermitage Technical Center

Hermitage is also home to the Technical Center, which is one of the only two Henrico County Public Schools in the district that have it. To be admitted into the program, students must apply and be selected to attend these classes either in the morning or the afternoon. This center is for students who are interested in gaining specific education in technology areas that they might want to pursue in the future.

Hermitage Sports Medicine Program

Hermitage is home to the Sports Medicine program, for students who are interested in the Sports Medicine field. Students must apply and be selected to attend this program, either in the morning or the afternoon. Students would be certified to do certain things like CPR and First Aid. Not only that but you will get hands on experience working closely with the Athletic Trainer, and the high school athletes of the high school.

Athletics and music

Hermitage is home to many athletic teams/sports including Football, Baseball, Basketball, Wrestling, Cross country, Indoor and Outdoor Track, Soccer, Field Hockey, Volleyball, Golf, Tennis, Softball, Competition Cheerleading Squad, Dance Team, and Step team. It is also home to the music programs such as Symphonic Band, Concert Band, Marching Band, and Orchestra. [1]
