Hemnskjela (sometimes Hemnskjel) is an island in the municipality of Snillfjord in Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the Trondheimsleia at the mouth of the Hemnfjorden, just 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) south of Sandstad, Hitra.[1]

The southern entrance to the Hitra Tunnel is located on the island, connecting to Sandstad on the neighboring island of Hitra. The Hemnskjel bridge connects the island to the mainland of Snillfjord. The Terningen Lighthouse lies about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) west of the island.[1]
