The helmeted woodpecker (Hylatomus galeatus) is a species of bird in the Picidae family. It is found in north-eastern Argentina, south-eastern Brazil, and Eastern Paraguay and was formerly known as Dryocopus galeatus.[2] Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. It is threatened by habitat loss.
