Hello Health is a privately held health information technology (HIT) company offering revenue-generating business models for independent primary care and pediatrics physician practices. Products include online practice management and electronic medical record services, medical billing and other healthcare business services. The company was founded in 2008 in Quebec City, QC, Canada, and today has operational sites in Quebec City, New York City and Mexico City.
Products
The company’s product line includes:
- The Hello Health EHR,[1] a no-cost electronic health record (EHR) platform featuring integrated labs, e-prescribing (eRx), patient education materials, document management capabilities, Meaningful Use certification, training, support and a personal health record for patients.
- PortalConnect,[2] an online patient portal allowing patients and physicians to securely communicate regarding lab results and prescription renewals; schedule appointments; and conduct telehealth visits through the platform.
- Hello Health Medical Billing Services,[3] a subsidiary of the company offering full-service medical billing.
Hello Health uses an intensive Early-Access Program, pushing minimum viable releases of the product to customers as quickly as possible. Customers receive upgrades to the platform every six weeks.
History
Hello Health was founded in 2008 by Dr. Jay Parkinson and Nathanial Findlay and is operated and privately owned by Myca Health. In July 2008, Hello Health opened a medical clinic in New York. The practice was touted as a house-call and in-clinic service “that sees you in person and communicates with you over the Internet.” Parkinson closed the Williamsburg practice and left Hello Health in 2009[4] when the company shifted focus to the development of the Hello Health EHR platform. Direct-pay practitioners and insurance-based physicians began using the platform in 2009.
Sandbox Industries and Blue Cross became the first of Hello Health’s major investors in 2009.[5] Since that year, the cloud-based platform has raised more than 40 million dollars and as of 2014 has several hundred clients in 32 states, and more than 300,000 patient users.
