Helheim Glacier
Retreat of Greenland's Helheim Glacier from 2001 to 2005
Helheim Glacier is one of Greenland's largest outlet glaciers.[1] It accelerated from 8 km (5.0 mi) per year in 2000 to 11 km (6.8 mi) per year in 2005.[2] Like many of Greenland's outlet glaciers it is the site of glacial earthquakes. It's named after the world of the dead in Norse Mythology.[3][4]
