"Hearts That Bleed" was chosen as the second single from State of Shock's second studio album, Life, Love & Lies. It was chosen as the second single from a poll on the band's website. Although "Best I Ever Had" was winning, the band chose "Hearts That Bleed" instead.

The video came out on MuchMusic on December 3, 2007. It can currently be requested on that television station, and has since reached #6. The video features Serinda Swan.
